Critical Care: Advanced Monitoring, Colloids, Hypertonic Saline, and Inotropes

چکیده
Many horses undergoing colic surgery require only basic post-operative care. However, upon recovery from general anesthesia of horses with serious problems, such as large colon injury secondary to a volvulus, more intensive post-operative medical management is necessary. The goal of critical care is to ensure that the tissues are receiving adequate oxygen and nutrients for maintenance and healing during the recovery period.
